I taught myself to crochet with nothing but a few books. None of those books ever had a tip on how to work into your turning chain, also known as the last stitch in the row. Because it was a source of frustration for me, I shied away from projects worked in rows, and preferred to work in the round. Finding this elusive stitch is often difficult for many crocheters. Simple Snowflake

Worked up in only three rounds, you can make a ton of these snowflakes in no time! Make them in different colors to use as gift tags (bust those scraps!), create one with sparkle-y yarn for an ornament, or work up a bunch to create a garland. Personalize a tag or ornament with fabric paint, or coat them in glitter glue for decorations. With such a simple pattern, this snowflake leaves you extra time to add your own touch! The snowflakes I made in worsted measure 4" (5 cm) from point to point. Make them bigger or smaller by using different yarn weights and your manufacturer's recommended hook size. The chunky version shown measures 6" (12.5 cm). I started working on an awesome beaded version of this pattern using thread, but I ran into a problem... I apologize in advance to those who were expecting a short post in consideration of the holiday season. Once I delved into the history of Boye, I knew I couldn't keep my promise. I should probably also apologize in advance for my repeated cheesy wordplay with the Boye company name. But Boye, I just can't help myself... Although I consider plain ol' aluminum Boye hooks to be everyday and quite uninteresting (no offense, Boye, I think that's just because I use them every day ), my new "vintage" Boye hooks seem to have more than originally meets the eye. There's something I see in my generation and younger: The importance of history and remembrance has been forgotten. When Stella of Purfylle asked me about crocheting poppies for Australia's Z-Special Unit and the crew of the HMAS HDML 1321, I asked " why poppies? ", but I was soon thrown back into memories. How to Sew a Toggle Button

Wait... WHAT??? Me, the sewing hater, is going to teach you something about it? Yup, that's right! Unfortunately, crocheting sometimes involves sewing , which is something I absolutely despise having to do. But, hey... We can hate it, or we can just get over it and do it so we have a finished project already; right? I find toggle buttons to be one of the easiest closures to use for garments, and I'd like to show you how I (the sewing hater) make it even easier. You'll need a yarn or sewing needle (one that fits through your button holes), a small length of yarn or thread (plus scissors to cut it), and your crochet project. But most importantly, toggle buttons are required... Which leads to a side note: WHOOP! The local Michaels heard my plea, and now has a larger assortment of buttons available.
