Free Pattern: Love Knot Earwarmer Headband

This pattern does more than keep your hair in place. Wide, showy headbands are hot in fashion right now, so you can keep your ears toasty with this earwarmer-style headband. A simple Love Knot panel bordered in scallops adds a touch of pretty lace while the solid pieces add warmth and structure.

A large button and a frilly flower combine the finishing touches to give this piece a bunch of character without adding a ton of work. The pattern is also centered so you can wear this headband with the lace in the back, which looks awesome with short haircuts or updos. You can check out the photos at the bottom of the page to see some examples of how it can be worn differently.

Finished size is: 4" (10 cm) wide.

19" (48 cm) circumference when buttoned.

Length unbuttoned is almost 20" (exactly 50 cm).

1 Love Knot mesh = 1" x 1" (2.5 cm x 2.5 cm)

Notes:
-When turning rows for Love Knot, remove hook, insert from the back side, then turn to avoid twisting the turning sts.

-The written pattern is designed to help you understand the four different sections, but you will only need to bind off twice:

The LK panel is worked first, rotated, then the first earwarmer piece is worked from it with the same working yarn. Do not bind off until you have completed the first earwarmer. The working yarn is then re-joined on the other side of the panel, and the second piece is worked from it. The border is then worked from the second piece. Do not bind off until you have completed border.
