Making the Scallop Seashell Washcloth: Part Four

Welcome back! This section covers Round 1 of the border, starting after the first single-crochet-three-together (sc3tog) stitch. Remember - I'm using a smaller hook than the pattern calls for. Let's continue!

Chain (ch) 1 after the sc3tog. In the same side post as the last loop of the sc3tog, make 2 half-double crochet (hdc).

Ch 2, make 2 double crochet (dc) in the next side-post space.

(Ch 2, make 2 dc in the next side-post space) 4 more times to complete this side.

Chain 2 for the corner space. Make 2 dc in the next stitch (turning ch-1).

Ch 2, make a front-post double crochet (fpdc) in the next available fpdc.

Ch 2, skip the next stitch. (Don't count the top of the fpdc as a stitch!) Make 2 dc in the following stitch.

Ch 2, make a fpdc in the next fpdc. Ch 2 again. This is where you will find the ending * of the pattern repeat.

Skip the next stitch, not counting the top of the fpdc. All in the following stitch make: 2 triple crochet (tr), ch 2, and 2 tr.

Here is where you will repeat from * to *
*Ch 2, fpdc in next fpdc, ch 2, sk 1, 2 dc. Ch 2, fpdc in the next available fpdc. Ch 2*

Make 2 dc in the last single crochet (sc) of the row.

(Ch 2, make 2 dc in the next side-post space) one time...

(Ch 2, make 2 dc in the next side-post space) 4 more times.

Ch 2, make 2 hdc in the next side-post space. You will begin the next sc3tog in this same space.

Ch 1. I'm pulling up extra long loops in my sc3tog to better show where each one is placed - Make yours with normal tension. Pull up a loop in the same space as the previous stitch, pull up a loop in the next side-post space,  and pull up a loop in the same space as the beginning of the round.

Yarn over and pull through all four loops on the hook to complete the stitch. Remember, if you're having trouble with the next round, you may want to mark these stitches.

Ch 2, join with a slip stitch in the third ch of the beginning ch-5.
