About

Hi and welcome to Crochet is the Way! Here you'll find free crochet patterns, tutorials, and rants about a life full of crochet (all with the occasional kitty pic included). I'm Jenny, the hand behind the hook, camera, and keyboard. I started the Crochet is the Way blog as a way to get my life back after developing rheumatoid arthritis.

I taught myself to knit and crochet before my diagnosis, while working my original career as a mechanic. I soon dropped knitting and discovered I had a knack for designing and writing my own crochet patterns. When the stiffness and swelling took over so I couldn't turn wrenches anymore, I found I could still hold my hook and yarn. Days spent stitching and wondering what I would do with my life developed into this blog.

Although I do occasionally sell a pattern, I love providing them here for free. You are more than welcome to sell the items you create from my patterns, and I give permission to use photos from projects if you are sharing my work online - But do not copy the entire blog post! And please, always give credit to the designer. You may not use my photos for items you are selling.

You can follow me or get in touch on Google (+JennyGuldin), Facebook (Crochet is the Way), and Pinterest (Crochet is the Way). Also, join the Crochet is the Way community on Google+ to share your own projects! For any other inquiries, you can email crochetisthewayblog@gmail.com.

Thank you for finding your way to my little yarn-filled corner of the internet! I hope you enjoy what you find here. And as always,

Happy Crocheting!

Update: Newer guests here may be unaware that I lost my home in Hurricane Irma, 2017. Since then I have struggled to get the blog back to running full time. Although we have been fortunate enough to finally purchase a new home in 2019, it is a house that needs quite a bit of work. Most of my crocheting has been put on hold as I try to put the new place in order... Progress has been slow.

I have been avoiding social media because 1) I just don't have the time and 2) A few bad people ruined my desire to have contact with anyone. If you have a question about a pattern, the best way to reach me would be to leave a comment on the post for that pattern. The email provided above is not currently recommended due to an overload of messages that I try to sort through once in a while.

It has been brought to my attention that many of the tutorial links in the patterns are broken. (Or if it's anything to do with Guidecentral, it doesn't exist.) You can help by dropping a comment on that post if you come across a bad link. Before I get back to creating patterns, I will be working to recreate all the tutorials in the broken links. There are a lot of them. Your help with finding them all is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while I work to rebuild my life again.
